Welcome To Ahura Mazda Farms!

Situated on the vast expanse of the Central Illinois prairie is a critically endangered

breed of small horse called Caspian.  Averaging 11 to 12 hands high, these small

horses are believed to be the ancestral form of the Near Eastern Horse - forerunner to

most hot blood breeds in existence today.  These horses were once held in such high

regard, that they graced the 550 B.C. Seal of King Darius and were believed to be pets

of the royal court of Persia.  Then they disappeared from history about 627 A.D., and

the breed was thought to be extinct for more than 1300 years.

We at Ahura Mazda Farms are very proud to be playing a part in pulling this critically

endangered breed back from the edge of extinction.  With approximately 1000 Caspian

horses in the world today, stewardship of this breed is vitally important.  Anyone may

participate in the conservation of this breed through ownership or by financially

supporting the Caspian Horse Society of the Americas and/or The Equus Survival

Trust.  Our Family invites you to take a few moments to learn more about this ancient

breed!
